The renowned singer David Adeleke, known as Davido, has taken legal action against Sophia Momodu, the mother of his first child, Imade, seeking shared custody of their daughter.
Davido’s legal team, including Olaniyi Arije, Okey Barrah, and others, filed a lawsuit at the Lagos State High Court on April 17, 2024.
Davido also requested the court to grant him “complete and unrestricted access to Miss Imade.”
The case, identified as LD/1587PMC/2024, lists Mr. David Adedeji Adeleke as the applicant and Ms. Sophia Momodu as the sole respondent.
Davido stated that he has consistently met his financial obligations towards their child’s welfare, including covering all costs related to Imade’s education.
He also mentioned that he has been paying Imade’s school fees and the rent for the apartment where Sophia Momodu and their daughter live.
He claimed that despite his efforts, Sophia has been making unreasonable demands that appear intended to harass and inconvenience him.
Davido alleged that she turned down his offer to provide a luxurious apartment valued at N200 million in a gated community on Victoria Island, Lagos. Instead, she insisted that he continue paying an annual rent of N5,000,000 for accommodation for their daughter.
“To ensure that Imade’s needs were well provided for, I purchased a Range Rover Sport Utility Vehicle for the child and the respondent to facilitate transportation needs, including school runs,” Davido stated.
He further stated that “last year, he received a call from their daughter’s school reporting Imade’s absence for two weeks. Upon questioning Momodu about this, she started making excuses and complained that the Range Rover SUV was not in good condition, but did not inform me about it.”
He continued, “Following this information about the vehicle, I provided another vehicle, a Highlander SUV, and additionally, I paid N5.8 million as requested by her for the repair of the Range Rover SUV, resulting in two vehicles in the possession and use of Momodu and our daughter.”
“I also committed to covering living expenses, nanny fees for our child, medical and healthcare costs, insurance, periodic international travel expenses, and tickets,” he added.
