Mining Operations: FG attempts to minimize influence on the environment.

The Federal Ministries of Solid Minerals Development and Environment are expanding coordination to guarantee that mining activities in the country have the least negative impact on the environment, in accordance with worldwide best practices.

Dr. Dele Alake, Minister of Solid Minerals Development, stated while receiving Balarabe Abbas Lawal, Minister of Environment, in his office.

Alake emphasized the Federal Government’s commitment to safeguarding mining lands while removing obstructions to seamless operations and ensuring mining procedures meet worldwide standards for minimum environmental effect.

In his speech, Lawal stressed that security concerns at mining sites, as well as the need to safeguard the environment from damage caused by mining activities, dominated discussions with his host.

“Recently, the Minister launched a solid minerals roadmap, which I think took care of the issue of the environment because whenever there is mining, the environment will be affected one way or the other. So, we are working very closely to see that whatever is being done will be within the limit of tolerable impact on the environment”, the Minister added.
