Air Peace Accuses Adams Oshiomhole of Spreading Falsehood, Calls for Release of CCTV Footage

Air Peace has accused Senator Adams Oshiomhole, a former Governor of Edo State, of spreading misinformation and behaving violently at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the airline condemned what it described as the “unruly conduct” of a prominent politician who assaulted staff and disrupted operations at the airport. While the statement did not initially name the individual, viral videos on social media strongly suggested the politician in question was Senator Oshiomhole. The Guardian earlier reported that many Nigerians urged the airline to publicly identify the individual instead of shielding him.

Following the incident, Oshiomhole alleged that Air Peace extorted its passengers and caused him to miss his flight despite arriving early at the airport. The airline has firmly denied these claims, labeling them as deliberate falsehoods and demanding evidence.

“The Senator lied blatantly when he accused Air Peace of extorting its passengers. We challenge Senator Oshiomhole to provide even a single piece of evidence showing that any passenger was extorted,” the statement read.

Air Peace further claimed that Oshiomhole acted disruptively after being informed he had missed his flight. According to the airline, he jumped on the baggage conveyor belt, barricaded the entrance gate, obstructed access to the terminal, and incited other passengers against the airline.

The airline has called on the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to release CCTV footage from the airport to verify its claims.

“We urge FAAN to release the CCTV coverage from the moment Senator Oshiomhole arrived at the airport. His extortion allegation is defamatory, and his conduct—violent, unbecoming, and shameful—should be seen by Nigerians,” the statement concluded.

This development has sparked widespread public interest, with many calling for transparency and accountability on both sides.
