Makinde holds thanksgiving service in honor for late brother

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Sunday held a solemn thanksgiving service in honor of his late brother, Engr. Sunday Makinde, at the Cathedral of St. Peter, Aremo, Ibadan.

The service, which was led by the Provost of the Cathedral, Very Reverend Samuel Olawoyin, provided a reflective moment as the Reverend urged Christians to view death as a passage to eternal life rather than an end.

Governor Makinde, accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, led family members, friends, and well-wishers in expressing heartfelt gratitude to God for the impactful life of his late brother and the successful funeral services held in his memory.

In his message of appreciation, Governor Makinde thanked everyone who supported his family during their time of grief. He acknowledged the overwhelming show of sympathy and solidarity, stating that despite the sudden loss, his family remains strong and united.

Reverend Olawoyin commended the governor for honoring his late brother with a state burial, emphasizing the importance of faithfulness in service to God. Special prayers were offered for the Makinde family, the state of Oyo, and the nation, reinforcing a collective spirit of healing and hope.

The thanksgiving service was graced by several dignitaries, including Oyo State Deputy Governor Barrister Bayo Lawal, Chief Judge Justice Iyabo Yerima, Chief of Staff Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi, Head of Service Mrs. Olubunmi Oni, commissioners, traditional rulers, and other political appointees.

The service highlighted a moment of gratitude, unity, and spiritual reflection as the Makinde family and the state honored the memory of Engr. Sunday Makinde.
