JAMB: “We Are Not Responsible for HND Admissions”

Stop admission of underaged persons – JAMB warns universities

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has clarified that it does not oversee the admission process for Higher National Diploma (HND) programs. In a statement by its Spokesman, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB emphasized that it has no involvement or authority over HND admissions and is not responsible for programs outside of its regular admissions.

The board reiterated that HND admissions fall outside its jurisdiction and are irrelevant to its mandate. This follows accusations from some HND students who blamed JAMB for their inability to participate in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), claiming their part-time National Diploma (ND) program was the issue.

Most of the students were reported to have been admitted into their institutions for the National Diploma without the knowledge of the Board. With this, the Board graciously condoned and endorsed the said admission for the ND programme, and that was the only relationship with such candidates.

“Their subsequent admission to HND is unknown and irrelevant to the mandate of the Board. As such, accusing the Board of issues it has no mandate over is preposterous.

“Some of these candidates have crossed the lines of criminality, which the Board will soon appropriately address,” the board said.
