The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested two cattle rustlers, two notorious arms traffickers, and three kidnapping suspects, according to a statement released on Sunday by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan. Hassan also reported that police officers successfully prevented a kidnapping attempt and seized a fabricated AK-47 rifle along with ammunition.
He explained that on Thursday, following credible intelligence, police operatives conducted a successful raid on a hideout in the Kasuwa Magani area of Kujama, Kaduna, used by a notorious cattle rustling syndicate. During the operation, two male suspects, Aminu Saleh, 25, and Jafar Ibrahim, 24, were apprehended. During interrogation, the suspects admitted their involvement in the crime and disclosed that they were collaborating with four other syndicate members who are currently at large.
Hassan further revealed that on the same Thursday, one Shafiu Abdullahi reported to the Fushin Kada operation that he had been receiving threatening phone calls demanding N10 million in ransom. The callers threatened to kidnap him if the money was not paid. The police’s Tracking and Response Team swiftly acted, using advanced techniques to locate and arrest the suspects. The arrested individuals were identified as Umar Baso, Shehu Filani, and Babangida Abdulkar
“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime, providing detailed accounts of their actions.
“Additionally, on Saturday, the operatives arrested two suspects involved in supplying arms and ammunition to kidnappers operating in Kaduna and Katsina States as well as Zamfara,” he said.
Hassan identified the suspects as: Dahiru Liman, 47, Garin Kurama village, Lere LGA Kaduna State and Sani Abdullahi Makeri, 45 , of Kankara LGA Katsina State.
They were apprehended with one fabricated AK-47 rifle and five rounds of 9mm live ammunition.
Hassan said the suspects confessed to the crime and their long-term involvement in other illegal activities.
He said the Commissioner of Police, Mr Audu Dabigi, has called on the public to stay vigilant.
Dabigi also called on them to promptly report any suspicious activities to strengthen the collective effort in maintaining security across the state.
