The Simon Ekpa-led Biafra Republic Government In-Exile has claimed that the Nigerian government is planning to cut diplomatic ties with Finland. Ekpa made this allegation in a statement on his official X account on Thursday, just days after the Finnish government commented on legal actions involving him.
Finland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Elina Valtonen, spoke about Ekpa’s case following a meeting between Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, and foreign ministers from Sweden, Finland, Iceland, as well as representatives from Norway and Denmark. She stated that Ekpa’s case is being handled through Finland’s judicial system, which adheres strictly to the rule of law.
The Nigerian government has been making efforts to extradite Ekpa. In response, the Biafra agitator, who resides in Finland, remarked that this latest development follows several unsuccessful attempts to secure his extradition.Simon Ekpa has claimed that the Nigerian government is out of options and has decided to close the Finnish embassy in Abuja and sever ties with Finland. He asserted that Finland would have a brighter future with the emerging state of Biafra than with anything Nigeria can offer.
Ekpa also mentioned that Norway had already closed its embassy in Nigeria and moved it to Ghana, which, according to him, only relieved Norway of the burden of dealing with fake and forged documents. Additionally, Ekpa recently alleged that there has been a fifth attempt to assassinate him in Finland.
