IGP Extends Tinted Glass Permit Enforcement Deadline to August 12, 2025

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has announced an extension of the grace period for enforcing the tinted glass permit requirement, now set to expire on August 12, 2025.

This development follows widespread public feedback surrounding the reactivation of the Nigeria Police Force’s digital tinted glass permit application process.

“In alignment with our commitment to transparent, inclusive, and citizen-focused policing, the Force wants to assure the public that their voices have not been ignored,” IGP Egbetokun stated. “Instead, these voices have been crucial in guiding ongoing reviews to ensure the process remains user-friendly, secure, and accessible to all.”

The extension is intended to allow for further enhancements to the application process and ensure no Nigerian is unfairly disadvantaged. The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) is currently improving both physical and digital channels for permit applications, introducing stronger verification methods, and streamlining procedures to reduce delays and public inconvenience.

Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, urged Nigerians to use only the official platform—http://possap.gov.ng—for applying or renewing their tinted glass permits.

He also encouraged the public to report any cases of extortion, hidden charges, or misconduct experienced during application or biometric capture processes. Complaints can be directed to police authorities via the dedicated hotline: 09169967000.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to public safety, digital innovation, and continuous improvement in service delivery,” Adejobi said. “We appreciate the cooperation and patience of the Nigerian people as we implement these reforms.”
