The sexual orientation of one of the housemates, Chuenzaaa, appears to have become a hot topic of conversation when Big Brother Mzansi, the South African adaptation of the popular worldwide reality television series, returns.
The 24-year-old, whose real name is Chuene Kapu, revealed his gender identity to his roommates on Sunday during the premiere.
“I am originally from Polokwane, the hardest city in the country [South Africa],” Chuenzaaa remarked. I am also 24 years old. In two weeks, I’ll be 25.
As Big Brother Mzansi, the South African version of the international reality television franchise, Big Brother, returns, the sexuality of one of the housemates, Chuenzaaa seems to have emerged as one of the first talk points.
Born Chuene Kapu, the 24-year-old announced to fellow housemates during the premiere on Sunday that he is transgender.
Chuenzaaa said, “I am originally from Polokwane, the hardest city in the country [South Africa]. And I’m 24 years of age. I’m turning 25 in two weeks.
“I am a proud member of the queer community.”
The reality star continued, saying that although he was accepted to law school, he left after just one year because he was “too eccentric to be a lawyer.”
