Adesina Responds to Claims of Buhari Clone, ‘Jubril of Sudan’

Femi Adesina, the former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the immediate past President Muhammadu Buhari, has rejected rumors about his ex-principal’s clone ‘Jubril of Sudan’ as baseless.

Adesina revealed these and other details in his book, ‘Working with Buhari: Reflections of a Special Adviser, Media, and Publicity (2015 – 2023),’ which was released in Abuja on Tuesday.

According to the book, when Buhari returned from a medical stay overseas in August 2021, there were allegations that the previous President was a clone known as ‘Jubril of Sudan.’

However, Adesina stated that on the day Buhari returned, he (Adesina) attended the wedding of the daughter of a former Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Gabriel Olonisakin, while dressed in a full Yoruba agbada and cap.

He then went to the airport and joined the President’s normal welcome line.

Adesina said that Buhari greeted everyone at the airport, and when it was his turn, the ex-military leader praised him, saying, “Adesina, this is the best I have seen you dressed,” and they shared a laugh.

He wondered that if the “person was a certain Jubril, how did he know my name, and comment on my dressing?” Adesina added, “When later, some people started to spread baseless stories that the man that came back to the country on that August 19 was not the real Buhari, but a clone, named Jubril of Sudan, I just found it ridiculous, even pointless, pathetic people, pitiable.”

Adesina also stated that the warm reception that Buhari received on his return showed that he would win an election if he ran again.

The book read. “The journey from Murtala Muhammed Airport to the Presidential Villa on that day was what convinced me that the President would win an election if he ran again.

“Many times, the crowd was so overwhelming that they blocked the road and slowed down the convoy. They were simply ecstatic to have their President back, a man they loved so much.”
