On Tuesday, Enugu State Governor Dr. Peter Mbah, commemorating the 33rd anniversary of the state’s creation, announced that his administration is also preparing to celebrate Enugu city’s 115th anniversary as a major center of history, commerce, and administration. Represented by Deputy Governor Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai, Mbah praised the state’s founding fathers and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to advancing their vision for the state.
He highlighted Enugu’s historical significance, noting its role in Nigeria’s development since the discovery of coal in 1909, and pledged to honor the founding fathers’ legacy through focused and transformative governance. Mbah emphasized his administration’s goals of driving development and ensuring that Enugu remains a top destination for investment, business, and tourism.
HRH Igwe Ezeudo Abel Nwobodo, President-General of the Enugu State Development Association (ESDA), praised Governor Mbah for realizing the founding fathers’ vision rapidly. HRH Igwe Samuel Asadu, Chairman of the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, commended Mbah for his leadership and called for educating the younger generation about Enugu’s history to foster appreciation and continued growth.
