The 2024 Ojude Oba Festival dazzled with vibrant colors, regal presence, artistic expression, and an abundance of elegance and poise. Ojude Oba, which translates to “king’s forecourt” in Yoruba, is a renowned annual celebration hosted by the Ijebu people of Ijebu-Ode, a prominent town in southwestern Nigeria’s Ogun State.
This lively festival, spanning a day, bursts with cultural pride, featuring fashion, sophistication, and the deep cultural heritage of the Ijebu community.
During the celebrations, various cultural age groups known as regberegbe, comprising locals, their friends, and associates, parade in front of the king’s palace courtyard on the third day of Eid al Kabir.
Each group, featuring both men and women, showcases lavish seasonal attire, adorned in vibrant traditional garments crafted from sanyan, alaari, etu, adire, as well as modern brocades and lace.
This year’s festival followed suit, with groups appearing majestic and extravagant in their colorful outfits.
Enjoy the looks!
