Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State have pledged their full support for the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 and vowed to reclaim the state’s governorship seat from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
At a strategic meeting in Abuja on Thursday, key party figures including former APC National Chairman, Dr. Umar Ganduje; Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau; Senator Kabiru Gaya; former SSG Suleiman Bichi; and other state and federal lawmakers, lauded President Tinubu’s policies and projects, saying they have benefitted Kano and the North.
Ganduje described the APC in Kano as “solid and united,” noting that the party has been attracting high-profile defectors from the NNPP, including lawmakers, former commissioners, and political leaders. He stressed that the president’s reforms and Kano-focused appointments have strengthened APC’s base.
Barau echoed this sentiment, highlighting the administration’s infrastructure drive, including major roads and upcoming projects such as the $1 billion Kano Light Rail. He insisted that Tinubu has delivered to the North, dismissing claims of neglect.
Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, Abubakar Kabiru Abubakar, assured that Kano APC will surpass the 600,000 votes delivered in 2023, citing completed and ongoing projects as motivation for greater support in 2027.
The meeting concluded with a resolution to intensify grassroots mobilisation for Tinubu’s re-election and the APC’s bid to recapture Kano’s governorship.
