The State Executive Council of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State has assessed Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s performance across sectors including security, infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, and education.
This assessment followed a three-day tour during which the council inspected projects and governance activities across the state since Oyebanji assumed office nearly three years ago.
Oyebanji was elected in October 2022 under the APC banner. He has held various public service roles in Ekiti, including Chief of Staff to a former governor and Secretary to the State Government, bringing extensive experience to his current position.
According to the party’s Publicity Secretary, Segun Dipe in a statement on Saturday, the governor has maintained a consistent focus on delivering infrastructure and social services to various parts of the state.
He said, “Since Oyebanji assumed office some three years ago, he had put his hands on the plough and had not looked back in ensuring that Ekiti State got a befitting facelift and held its own among the comity of states in Nigeria.”
The council inspected projects from the Southern, Northern, and Central Senatorial districts. Sites visited included agricultural farms, power substations, completed and ongoing road projects, hospitals, schools, the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport, and the Ring Road Phase 1.
The APC State Chairman, Olusola Elesin, stated, “There is no doubt that the governor (Oyebanji) has done a yeoman’s job. He has performed creditably well, even beyond our expectations. Little wonder the good people of the state are heaping praises on him and yearning for his second term in office. We will surely ensure that the governor comes back to complete the works yet to be completed and do even more.
“The governor’s efforts at addressing road infrastructure, poverty, insecurity, revamping moribund state-owned enterprises, among others, have been phenomenal.”
The State Executive Council specifically commended the administration’s investments in education, health, and agro value chain development, saying these had helped attract investors, generate employment, and transform the state’s economy.
The party added, “We are further enthused by the Oyebanji administration’s programmes and projects, and the fact that they are spread across the 16 Local Government Areas and 22 LCDAs in Ekiti State in tune with the governor’s 6-pillar inclusive development model.
“We equally appraise the governor’s drive for making the state conducive for business as reflected in its Ease-of-Doing-Business rating, culminating in attracting both local and foreign direct investments into the state. The State has also been ranked as the safest in Nigeria as well as scoring high in financial prudence.
“Everywhere we go, it is construction, construction and construction,” members of the council said, praising the ambitious opening of urban and rural road routes across the state’s three senatorial districts.
Since taking office, Governor Oyebanji has focused on a range of sectors including infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and economic development, aiming to meet the needs of Ekiti residents.
