AFCON Final: Tinubu Praises Super Eagles for Their Relentless Display

The Super Eagles of Nigeria were praised by President Bola Tinubu for their resilient performance in the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final in Côte d’Ivoire.

In a statement signed by Presidential Spokesman Ajuri Ngelale, the President praised the Super Eagles.

Tinubu acknowledged the challenges the team continuously overcame with progressively better performance as they advanced to the finals. He praised the team, the coach, the crew, and the entire management team for their diligence, dedication, and hard work to go this far in the tournament.

In light of this, the President encouraged Nigerians to have a positive attitude, stressing that our tenacity, discipline, and will on the field of play allowed us to win a significant victory over others in Africa and throughout the world.

Tinubu said, “Let this passing event not dispirit us, but bring us together to work harder. We are a great nation bound as one by the green-white-green banner of resilience, joy, hope, duty, and untiring love. To those cherished Nigerian youths expressing their gifts in communities, drawing lines in the sand as they play football in their humble rectangles of play, you can be our heroes tomorrow, do not relent in your pursuit. My administration is here to make dreams come true.”

In the Alassane Ouattara Stadium on Sunday night, the host country, Cote d’Ivoire, emerged victorious on the continent after defeating the Super Eagles 2-1 in the championship match.
