National Assembly Unseals Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Office

The National Assembly has unsealed the office of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central.

Her office, located in Suite 2.05 of the Senate Wing, was reopened on Tuesday morning by the Sergeant-at-Arms of the National Assembly, with support from security personnel. In a video shared on Tuesday, Deputy Director of the Sergeant-at-Arms, Alabi Adedeji, was seen removing the red seal from the door.

The office had been locked since March 6, 2025, following the senator’s suspension from the Red Chamber. Although her suspension formally ended in September 2025, Akpoti-Uduaghan was unable to resume duties due to ongoing legal disputes and resistance from Senate leadership.

On July 4, the Federal High Court in Abuja ruled that the suspension was excessive and unconstitutional. Despite this, the Senate rejected her earlier request to return to work after the suspension elapsed.

It remains unclear whether the latest development will grant Akpoti-Uduaghan full access to her office and the National Assembly complex, as the Senate has yet to issue an official resolution on the matter. Her possible resumption with colleagues will become clearer when the Senate reconvenes for plenary on October 7.
