The Nigeria Police Force has announced that nationwide enforcement of tinted glass permits will commence on October 2, 2025.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam.
According to him, online registration for the permits is currently ongoing, and members of the public are advised to apply through the official portal at possap.gov.ng.
Adam explained that applicants are required to create an account using their NIN, BVN, or TIN, verify it via email, and then log in to select the Tinted Glass Permit service. Vehicle details and supporting documents must be uploaded, with applicants urged to carefully review their information before submission and payment.
He further noted that after submission, applicants will undergo vehicle inspection and fingerprint biometric capturing at designated Police Intelligence Departments. In Jigawa, biometric capturing will be conducted free of charge at the State Intelligence Department, Police Headquarters, Dutse.
The Police spokesperson cautioned motorists against patronising unauthorised agents posing as intermediaries, stressing that the initiative is designed to promote transparency and ensure road safety.
“This process not only enhances accountability but also helps combat illegal window tinting,” Adam said, while calling for the cooperation of the public.
He urged motorists to begin their registration promptly, ahead of the enforcement date, to avoid sanctions.
