Ikoyi Club Ladies Unveil 50th Anniversary Golf Tournament Logo

The Ladies’ Golf Section of Ikoyi Club 1938 has officially unveiled the logo for its 50th anniversary tournament, scheduled to hold from November 12–15, 2025.

Themed “Go Beyond – Golf and Golfing,” the milestone edition aims to highlight golf’s influence beyond the fairways—promoting environmental sustainability, biodiversity, discipline, and a positive mindset.

Pioneer member and past ladies’ captain, Mrs. Iyabo Attah, reflected on the tournament’s growth over five decades, expressing her desire to see more women and young people take up the sport. “It is my desire to see more women embrace golf and also encourage their children to learn the game,” she said.

Current captain, Mrs. Peggy Onwu, described the unveiling as a landmark moment. “This is 50 years of commitment, skills development and building connections with ladies across Africa and beyond,” she noted.

Publisher of Business Day and chairman of the logo review committee, Mr. Frank Aigbogun, commended the section for its legacy. “The ladies who played 50 years ago weren’t just golfing; they were making a statement and building something that would outlast them. Today, their vision is a reality,” he remarked.

The event also showcased a logo design competition involving over 18 Lagos secondary schools. Wahab Folawiyo Senior High School claimed first place, ahead of GreenSpring Secondary School and Command Secondary School, Bonny Camp. The top three schools received ₦100,000, ₦70,000, and ₦50,000 respectively, along with brand-new computers.

PwC Nigeria, represented by Consulting and Risk Services Leader Mr. Femi Osinubi, reaffirmed its partnership with the tournament, stressing its alignment with the firm’s CSR focus on gender equality and environmentally friendly initiatives.
