Atalanta manager Ivan Juric has suggested Ademola Lookman was misled by poor advice during his failed bid to force a summer move to Inter Milan.
The Nigeria international submitted a transfer request in August and went AWOL after Atalanta rejected Inter’s €45m offer. He was subsequently frozen out of the squad in the build-up to the new Serie A campaign.
The 27-year-old rejoined full training last week and made his first appearance of the season on Sunday, coming off the bench in the 87th minute against Torino.
Juric revealed after the match that Lookman had since apologised to the squad and accepted responsibility.
“He spoke to me and the team on Monday,” Juric told Tuttomercatoweb. “He was surrounded by people who had given him some bad advice. He has a great winning mentality and now we need to get him back in shape physically.”
