Crown FC coach warns players no automatic places in new season

Crown FC technical adviser Ayodeji Ayeni has warned his squad that no player is guaranteed a place in the team as preparations begin for the 2025/26 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.

The Ogbomosho-based side, nicknamed the Ajilete Warriors, resumed training on Monday following a disappointing campaign in which they finished bottom of their group in the NNL promotion playoffs.

“Any retained player who feels too big or assumes automatic selection is only deceiving himself,” Ayeni told his players. “Everyone must prove their worth to be part of the team’s plans.”

Crown FC narrowly missed out on promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) last season, and Ayeni has challenged his players to raise their standards as they seek another push for top-flight football.
