Veekee James: False Marriage Rumours Nearly Drove Me Into Depression

Fashion stylist and influencer, Veekee James, has opened up on how rumours that she snatched her husband, Femi Atere, from a friend almost drove her into depression.

Speaking on the Nancy Isime Show hosted by Nancy Isime, alongside her husband, Femi Atere, Veekee recalled that one of the most painful false stories about her marriage was the claim that she was involved with her husband while he was still dating her friend.

“I think it was a story about how I was stolen from a friend and we were sleeping with each other. You know, this is happening.

“And so many of them were all lies,” she said. The fashion entrepreneur revealed that the rumour almost plunged her into depression. She said that phase broke her and she was scared of how this false information would affect her personal brand.

“It almost put me in depression, you know? And that was like the first time in my life I got to understand what people who say that they are depressed feel.

“I remember entering into my room and I didn’t come out for like two days. I was there crying and praying.

“And I told God, you know the story. If you know that these are all lies that they’re saying about us, help us get through this without this ruining my brand,” she recounted.

According to her, prayers and faith helped her overcome the challenge.

“I remember praying and waiting on God for days. And the way he brought me out, it was like a miracle. And then I kept seeing stories upon stories.

“And for some reason, it was just so easy for me to just laugh about it,” she added.

Veekee also disclosed how she deals with online controversies, including trolls, stating that she reflects, and tries to checkmate her actions to see if she was wrong.

She said that despite her brother’s advice to avoid online comment “Most times my brother would say, oh, don’t look at them. Don’t read the comments. I’m like, no, I have to read the comments. And go through it. she chose to confront them.

“Every time they say you are trending, OK, I go there. Yes. What is making me trend? What’s happening? The places where I have to check and see, OK, am I doing too much here? Do I need to learn? I ask God to help me and guide me. It’s amazing,” she said.

On her marriage and plans for the future, Veekee explained that she waited upon the lord to help her know if her husband is the right person to get into marriage with.

“When I met Femi, I knew that he was the one. I wanted God to confirm that he was the one.

“And when he did, my ears were blocked. And they are blocked till today or forever.”

She further noted that she plans to raise her children to be visible role models and expose them to fame as well.

“I don’t plan to want to make a fun video with my kids where we’re dancing and we’re having fun and then I’m hiding them.

“I plan to have kids who would be role models in society. “I plan to have kids who will go out there, go around the world and show their talents to the world. I don’t have kids I’m going to hide,” she said.

Her husband, Atere, on the shoe described himself as a private person, as he disclosed bad comments about him and their union doesn’t get to him.

“I can tell you for a fact, I’m a BTS person. You might see my wife all out because that’s who she is, that’s the type of person she is.

“So I am just the reserved part and I’m always behind her.

“So whatever anybody says online doesn’t really bother me. That’s just the honest truth,” Atere concluded.
