FIRS, Nigeria Customs team up to fast-track National Single Window project ahead of 2026 deadline

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have intensified collaboration to deliver the Nigerian National Single Window (NSW) platform within the government’s first-quarter 2026 deadline. At a high-level meeting on Tuesday, both agencies reviewed ongoing work with the NSW Secretariat and agreed on concrete steps to fast-track integration and implementation.

Launched by President Bola Tinubu in April 2024, the NSW aims to harmonise all trade-related agencies on a single digital platform, streamlining import and export processes, reducing delays, and boosting transparency. FIRS Executive Chairman, Dr. Zacch Adedeji, described synergy with Customs as critical to meeting the March 2026 first-phase launch date, noting that integrated revenue-collection systems would improve efficiency and strengthen Nigeria’s non-oil revenue base.

NCS Comptroller-General, Adewale Adeniyi, called the NSW a priority policy for the administration, designed to modernise trade operations through advanced technology and cut bureaucratic bottlenecks in cargo clearance. NSW Director, Tola Fakolade, confirmed the project had entered its crucial development and integration phase, emphasising that seamless connectivity between agencies is key to meeting the operational target.

When fully operational, the NSW is expected to slash cargo clearance times, lower business costs, increase government revenue, attract foreign investment, and create jobs across sectors.
