the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has slammed a six-month flight ban on Nigerian Fuji icon,Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, over gross misconduct with ValueJet airline at the domestic terminal of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
It was reported that NCAA had on Tuesday suspend two pilots of the local airline with over alleged breach of safety protocol.
Preliminary investigation by the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) would however reveal that the incident had involved K1 De Ultimate who had attempted to prevent the aircraft from flying after being denied entry.
The Fuji icon was alleged to have attempted to bring an alcoholic content into the aircraft but was denied entry. This had led to altercations and intervention of the airport officials.
As captured in series of viral video, K1 De Ultimate could be seen standing in front of the aircraft as he rejected pleas of the airport officials.
Another video would show the moment the airport officials scampered for safety with the singer ducking being hit by the wing of the aircraft which forcefully departed from the airport.
Addressing newsmen on Thursday, Michael Achimugu, the NCAA’s director of public affairs and consumer protection, announced the blacklisting of K1 De Ultimate for six months.
He maintained that aviation rule applies to everyone regardless of status.
“What I must assure the general public is that everybody involved in this will be brought to book,” Achimugu said.
“As we speak, the passenger is going to be blacklisted for the next six months flying in Nigeria.
“Aviation rules are made for everybody, for the protection of everybody. These rules are global. There is nothing about the rules that is to antagonise any passenger.
“So, we will do everything we can to get to the root of it. Everybody who needs to be punished or sanctioned will receive justice.” Achimugu said.
He also disclosed that the NCAA is currently writing to the attorney-general of the federation and the inspector-general of police to initiate legal proceedings against Ayinde.
