Bashir Ahmed, media aide to former Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, has confirmed reports of the ex-President being hospitalised in London, United Kingdom over undisclosed illness.
This was contained in a statement issued on the ex-Presidential aide’s official X handle on Thursday.
While confirming that Buhari is unwell and receiving medical treatment, Bashir played down reports of the ex-President being critically ill and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
He maintained that the ex-President is stable and responding well to treatment with the hope of full recovery.
Bashir expressed his gratitude to well-wishers and supporters of the former Nigerian President while soliciting for prayers on his behalf for speedy recovery.
“In light of the recent media reports suggesting that former President Muhammadu Buhari is critically ill and has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), we find it necessary to set the record straight.
“It is true that former President Buhari is unwell and is currently receiving medical attention.
“However, contrary to the exaggerated claims circulating in the media, he is stable and responding well to treatment and we are optimistic about his full recovery.
“We appreciate the outpouring of prayers and goodwill from his supporters and well-wishers around the world. We continue to pray for his complete and speedy recovery.” The post read.
Recall that Buhari served as Nigerian President from 2015 to 2023.
His eight-year tenure was however tainted with frequent medical trips and the infamous rumour of his death which was debunked as the ex-President returned to Nigeria.
However, Nigerians were unconvinced about the ex-President being alive as the controversies brewed over changes in his personality with claims of him being cloned with a Sudanese identified as Jubril.
