A heavy security presence has taken over the National Assembly complex in Abuja as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu prepares to address a joint session of the National Assembly today, June 12, in commemoration of Nigeria’s Democracy Day.
The area is under tight surveillance with security operatives drawn from the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Sergeant-at-Arms stationed at strategic locations within and around the complex. Vehicular access has been severely restricted, with entry permitted only to accredited lawmakers and personnel.
The President’s address is part of events marking Democracy Day, a national celebration of the country’s return to democratic rule. President Tinubu is expected to reflect on the achievements of his administration so far and outline his agenda for the future.
Lawmakers, top government officials, and dignitaries have begun arriving at the National Assembly complex under strict security protocols.
