Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru has called on Nigerians to maintain their support and understanding for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he continues to implement bold policy reforms aimed at driving sustainable national growth.
The senator, who represents Lagos East Senatorial District and chairs the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions, made the appeal in his Democracy Day message released by his media aide, Mr. Enitan Olukotun, on Thursday in Ikorodu.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s 26 years of uninterrupted democratic governance, Senator Abiru described the occasion as a moment of reflection and appreciation for the nation’s democratic journey.
“Though the path has not been without challenges, we have every reason to celebrate the resilience, growth, and promise that our democracy represents,” he said.
Acknowledging the economic and social adjustments Nigerians are experiencing under the current administration, Abiru commended citizens for their resilience and urged them not to lose hope.
“As we navigate this critical period in our nation’s history, I call for continued support and understanding for our dear President as he implements bold policy decisions to reposition our nation for sustainable growth,” he said. “Though the sacrifices may be difficult, they are necessary, and I am glad that the rewards have started manifesting across all sectors.”
He also paid tribute to the Nigerian people for their unwavering courage, determination, and commitment to democratic ideals.
Senator Abiru concluded by encouraging all citizens to uphold the core values of democracy and seek constructive ways to build on the gains achieved over the years.
