PMAN President Pretty Okafor Cleared of Allegations, Vows Legal Action Against Impostors

In a strongly worded press conference, the National President of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Pretty Okafor, announced that the Nigeria Police Force has cleared him of all allegations of misconduct, forgery, and constitutional violations.

Speaking at the PMAN Secretariat in Lekki, Lagos, Okafor said the final police investigation report exonerated him and affirmed the legitimacy of the current PMAN leadership. He described recent internal conflicts as a coordinated campaign to hijack the union, led by certain former members of the National Working Committee.

“There was never any financial misconduct, no forgery, and no breach of our constitution. The truth has finally prevailed,” Okafor declared.

He explained that his purported suspension was carried out without due process while he was on official assignment abroad, in violation of PMAN’s constitution. The National Executive Council (NEC) swiftly reversed the illegal actions and dismissed key conspirators, including Boniface Itodo and Faga Bem-Paul, while others like Sunny Neji and Ruggedman lost their positions by collaborating with an illegitimate faction.

Okafor also detailed instances of criminal trespass, break-ins at the Secretariat, and a forged court order allegedly orchestrated by a police officer and court clerk both now under investigation.

He further alleged that Olufemi Olumeyan, developer of the controversial PMAN Monaco Project, is under police investigation for fraud, impersonation, and illicit financial flows, having collected N350 million without fulfilling agreed terms or notifying PMAN.

To protect the union’s assets, the NEC has resolved to establish an Asset Management Company.

“This is not just about PMAN. It’s about justice, constitutional order, and protecting the soul of our industry,” Okafor stated, vowing to pursue civil and criminal action against all impostors and sponsors of the crisis.
