Billionaire entrepreneur and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has publicly expressed regret for his recent harsh criticism of former U.S. President Donald Trump.
According to a report by NPO, Musk had slammed Trump’s latest tax and spending bill in a post on X (formerly Twitter), describing it as a “disgusting abomination” and an “outrageous, pork-filled” measure that would significantly deepen the U.S. budget deficit.
“The bill will massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit to $2.5 trillion and burden American citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt,” Musk posted last week Tuesday.
His remarks sparked a heated exchange between the two men, with Trump expressing disappointment in Musk, who was once considered an ally. The criticism also came just days after Musk stepped down from his role at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a body backed by Trump.
However, in a new post on Tuesday, Musk appeared to soften his stance.
“I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far,” Musk wrote on his official X handle.
The statement signals a possible effort to mend fences between the tech mogul and the former president, following a week of public tension.
