Segun Sowunmi, former spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar’s 2023 presidential campaign, recently praised President Bola Tinubu for his intellect, stating that Tinubu is smarter than his political rivals, including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.
Sowunmi made the remarks during his appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday. Addressing questions about his recent visit to President Tinubu, Sowunmi clarified that the meeting should not be seen as a betrayal of his political ties with Atiku. He declared his political independence, emphasizing that he is not loyal to any specific politician.
“I am at liberty as an adult to take decisions. I am not tied to anybody. I am not anti-Tinubu. I own my mouth, I own my words, and I own my arguments,” Sowunmi stated.
He went on to highlight the differences between Tinubu and his political competitors, saying, “Do you know the difference between Bola and them? He doesn’t have one approach to dealing with everybody. By miles, he (Tinubu) is smarter than them. He is smarter than Peter Obi, he is smarter than them.” When asked directly if Tinubu is smarter than Atiku, Sowunmi responded, “He’s smarter than them.”
Sowunmi, who has known President Tinubu since 1994, explained that his visit was intended to discuss and better understand why opposition parties often blame Tinubu’s government for their internal crises.
