FACT SHEET – REPORT OF ACTIVITIES
1. University Council
The University Council’s various activities continued to provide guidance and oversight to the University.
2. 12th Lagos State Polytechnic Council
The 12th Lagos State Polytechnic Governing Council ended its tenure on 4 December 2024. The university is grateful for its services.
3. Conference of Committee of Pro-Chancellors of State Universities (COPSUN)
The University and Lagos State University (LASU) and Lagos State University of Education (LASUED)hosted the COPSUN meeting in July 2024. The Vice Chancellor was the Chairman of the programme Sub-Committee.
4. Senate Functions
The Senate had continued to meet statutorily (monthly) and held special meetings on all the University’s academic activities.
5. Ranking
The Times Higher Education ranked the University in its Impact Ranking for 2024. Being young, the university obtained reporter status for the World University ranking.
Professor Olumuyiwa Odusanya was ranked among the four (4) top scientists in Nigeria for the third consecutive year. He was on the prestigious Stanford University list of the top 2% of Scientists in Nigeria.
6. Professorial Endowment
Mr. Gboyega Fatimilehin has endowed a professorial chair in the Department of Estate Management and Valuation, a remarkable investment in the University.
7. New Programme approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC)
The University obtained approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence a B.Sc. programme in Biochemistry after a successful resource verification visit in July 2024. This brings the number of academic programmes to forty-one (41).
8. Accreditation
Our university prepared for accreditation by the NUC for twenty-five (25) undergraduate academic programmes in four (4) colleges and a few programmes by the concerned professional regulatory bodies. Several rounds of in-house assessments and external peer review assessments were conducted to prepare the university for the exercise, along with mock accreditation.
A situation analysis revealed a poor state of preparedness, inadequate staffing, poor documentation, and inadequate critical laboratory facilities, all of which needed to be attended to.
Within the period, the accreditation was conducted by:
1. Architecture Regulation Council of Nigeria (ARCON) for a resource visit of B.Sc. Architecture.
2. Council for the Regulation of Engineering of Nigeria (COREN) for a resource visit of seven (7) programmes in Engineering:

These visits took place between October and December2024. The university community worked assiduously and with a sense of purpose.
The University Management met the accreditation teamsand held a courtesy visit. Most visits were of two-day duration, and an exit meeting was held thereafter. The teams were pleased with the rapid changes in almost all spheres of the university. The library collections include e-resources, the establishment of new laboratories, the documentation, provision of up-to-date equipment and machinery, and the establishment of a zoological garden,to mention a few. As is expected, there were areas to improve. The teams were very helpful.
The results from NUC are expected, but some from the professional regulatory bodies have been received:
1. The Chartered Institute of Insurance of Nigeria (CIIN) gave the university full accreditation for two (2) years for the B.Sc. Insurance Programme;
2. Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria (ESVARBON) gave the university full accreditation for five (5) years for the B.Sc. Estate Valuation and Management.
3. The Architecture Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) responded positively from its resource visit.
4. The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) has granted the university full accreditation for five (5) years for its B.Sc. Mass Communication.
9. Academic Activities
a. 2023/2024 academic session
The University concluded its second year of operation, the 2023/2024 session. The second semester examinations were held in September2024, and the Senate promptly approved the results in October 2024.
b. 2024/2025 academic session
The University commenced the first semester of the 2024/2025 session on October 28, 2024. It admitted new (100-level) students to its forty-one (41) programmes. The first semester examination of the University’s third year, 2024/2025 session, commenced on Monday, 10 March 2025.
c. The matriculation ceremony was held on Friday, 28th February, 2025, for three thousand, two hundred and fifty-seven (3,257) students.
d. Scholarship Award to the Best Students
A scholarship was given to the overall best student. Professor Emeritus Adebisi Balogun donated a scholarship to five students from each college. The family of Adetola Odusanya awarded two (2) best students (male and female) from Epe Local Government Area a scholarship.
10. Founder’s Day
The University celebrated its second Founder’s Day on Monday, 3rd February, 2025. The Keynote Speaker was Professor Adesegun Fatusi, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Medical Sciences, Owo, OndoState. The lecture title was “Getting it right in a new University”.
11. Harmonized Salary Scale
The Lagos State Government has enabled our university to pay the Harmonised salary scale to Academic and Non-Teaching staff. The payment took effect in February 2025.
12. Industrial Harmony
The university has maintained industrial harmony through regular meetings held with the Staff Unions.
13. Staff Welfare
The university continues to prioritize the welfare of its staff. Individual harmony has been sustained. Staff salaries are paid promptly. Staff have received financial support for health issues and funds for loans,for which the guidelines have been approved. The state government paid the end-of-year bonuses award for 2024. The University has paid for staff subscription to the Lagos State Health Insurance (Ilera-Eko) Scheme.
14. Students’ Welfare
The Dean of Students’ Affairs coordinates students’ welfare. The University has a Career Services Centre that provides counselling services.
15. Students Activities
a. The University, in collaboration with SIID Africa and Tech 4 Dev, trained students on Artificial Intelligence.
b. The University students participated in a Chess competition in Lagos, and our students took tenth (10th) position. Students from the University triumphed at the Cavista Technologies Hackathon2025 competition held in February 2025.
c. The University participated in the Federation of African Universities (FASU) games in September 2024, which were hosted jointly by the University of Lagos and Lagos State University. The University won five (5) medals.
d. The University students from the Tourism and Hospitality Management Department participated in the Lagos Cultural Heritage Events held in Lagos in August 2024 at Freedom Park.
16. Relationship with Regulatory Bodies
The University has maintained cordial relationships with the National Universities Commission and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
17. Donations
The Vice Chancellor had attracted severalorganizations to donate computers, desktops, and laptops to the University. The donations include:

18. Eko Club Scholarship
Eko Club New York City awarded thirty (30) of the best students of Lagos State origin scholarships worth N100,000.00 each, for a total of N3,000,000.00 (Three Million Naira).
19. Donation of trees
Mrs. Murtala Mohammed, through her Dawn Project,donated 1,000 Trees worth over ten million naira (N10,000,000.00) to the University.
20. Donation of sports equipment
The Lagos State Sports Trust Fund donated sporting equipment to the
University.
21. Infrastructural Development
The university’s landscape is changing, and the construction of new buildings is ongoing. These include:
a. The professorial building by TETFund
b. The university auditorium by TETFund
c. The central research laboratory of TETFund
d. The Nigeria Institute of Transport Technology(Compressed National Gas and Training Centre)
e. The Chartered Institute of Banking Hall

22. International Affiliations
The University is now a member of:

23. TETFund Intervention Allocations
The University received interventions from TETFundfor the Years 2024 and 2025.
24. Legacy Institution
Under the supervision of the Vice Chancellor, the Legacy Institution concluded examinations for the School of Part Time Studies’ final set of students in ND 3 and HND 3.
25. Lagos State Government Projects
The Lagos State Government has several ongoing projects:
a) Student Arcade – new

c) Administrative block – delayed due to fundingissues
26. Community Services
The University is actively engaging its host communities. To help thirty (30) artisans from Ikorodukick-start their businesses, a two-day training programme was held, and start-up kits were given to them.
27. Training/Capacity Building
The University has had several workshops and training sessions during the year to improve and build the capacity of its staff. Dataphyte Academic trains the staff of the mass communication department on artificial intelligence (AI) and data journalism.
28. Movement of the Department of Business Administration to Surulere Campus
The University has moved the Department of Business Administration students to Surulere Campus in compliance with the Governing Council decision.
29. Registration with the European Union (EU) Portal
The University is officially registered with the EUFunding and Tenders Portal with an assigned Participant Identification Code (PIC) number879566707.
30. Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises Project
The University hosted the Bank of Industry (BOI) and National Universities Commission teams in charge of the Investment Digital and Creative Enterprises (IDICE) project on Thursday, February 11, 2025. The university had applied to be a beneficiary institution on the I-Dice Project. If we succeed, the project will immensely value the university.
31. Research
The University is currently engaging in research activities. Four (4) researchers received funds from the University. The University won a National Research Fund grant. The Vice Chancellor also won a grant from the Wellcome Trust, UK, to participate in an international study on antibiotic use in Primary Care.
32. Institution-Based Research Grant (IBR)
The University has just received approval and funding for twenty-four (24) academic teams to conduct various studies for the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), which is funding its institution-based research grant intervention.

(B) COMMUNITY SERVICES
The University, through the Directorate of Students’ Affairs, interacts regularly with the Baales, Chiefs and Landlords, Chairmen and Secretaries of the Community Development Associations (CDAs) of the adjoining Communities, e.g., Okegbegun and Lambo-Lasuwon, to strengthen the security network within the community, which university students predominantly populate.
Through the under-listed avenue, the University has further impacted the adjoining community of the Campus:
1. Donation of food as palliatives to the Lambo/Lasunwon/Oke-Gbegun community;
2. You will have free access to the institution’s Sports facilities, such as the Lawn tennis court, Football Pitch, Basketball court, etc.
3. Regular meetings with Stakeholders to foster security in the adjoining communities;
4. Skill acquisition training for adjourning communities. (soap making, tie and dye, makeup, and painting);
5. Use of the Isolo campus football pitch by the Managers Football Club;
