“Dear Kaffy” Returns to Lagos This Easter After a Sold-Out Run and Global Acclaim

After making a powerful debut at the Lagos International Theatre Festival, an incredible Christmas run of 20 sold-out shows, and a successful international tour in Pretoria, South Africa in collaboration with the South African State Theatre, Bolanle Austen-Peters Productions proudly announces the much-anticipated Easter return of its acclaimed stage play: Dear Kaffy – Diary of a Single Woman.

Directed by Nigeria’s leading theatre icon, Bolanle Austen-Peters, Dear Kaffy will light up Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, Lagos, with performances from April 18–21 and April 26–27, 2025, showing twice daily at 3PM and 7PM.

Dear Kaffy – Kike’s Story is a deeply personal yet universally relatable tale that follows Kikelomo Olota, a brilliant, 35-year-old Lagos woman navigating the highs and lows of love, identity, societal expectations, and the pressure to “settle down.”

Praised for her intellect but out of sync with her peers, Kike chases acceptance over authenticity, leading her into a series of complicated romantic entanglements. From Femi, the charming smooth-talker with secrets, to Emeka, the “perfect” man with a hidden marriage, each relationship teaches her something new about self-worth and the kind of love she truly seeks.

When family pressure intensifies especially from her father Kike meets Debo, a promising suitor who brings hope. But just as she begins to believe in love again, her ex, Tamuno, reappears, stirring up past emotions and forcing her to confront old wounds.

Set against the vibrant pulse of Lagos, the play blends humour, music, and sharp social insight to explore the emotional complexity of today’s African woman. It challenges societal norms while celebrating the bravery it takes to live one’s truth.

Produced by Bolanle Austen-Peters, Dear Kaffy features a dynamic and talented cast, including:

• Uzo Osimkpa as Kike, Yewande Osamein (Tolani), Abiola Lepe (Bidemi), Sharon Onyegbula (Shalewa), Ralph Okoro (Tamuno), Hector Amiwero and Obiora Maduegbuna (Debo), Floyd Igbo (Femi), Bimbo Manuel (Father) and Bukola Ogunnote (Mother)

With expert support from Ikenna Jude Okpala as Stage Manager, and music directed by Kehinde Oretimehin and Deji Aremu, this production is as technically brilliant as it is emotionally gripping.

“The storytelling and performances in Dear Kaffy speak for themselves,” says Bolanle Austen-Peters, founder of BAP Productions. “This play gives a voice to the modern African woman, celebrating both her strength and her vulnerability. We are proud to bring it back to Lagos this Easter.”

Returning to Lagos with new energy and deeper emotional resonance, Dear Kaffy invites both new audiences and returning fans for a soulful, humorous, and unforgettable theatre experience this Easter.
