Oyetola to Adeleke: Respect court ruling

Gov Adeleke sets up implementation committee on staff audit

Former Osun State Governor and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has denied allegations that he is plotting to destabilize Osun State.

He described the claims by Governor Ademola Adeleke as baseless, citing his 15-year track record of peaceful and law-abiding public service.

In a statement from his media office, Oyetola was described as a man of peace who respects the judiciary, the rule of law, and constituted authority, emphasizing that he would never engage in actions that threaten public order.

“For the four years he governed Osun, he gave a good account of himself as a man of peace, a respecter of the rule of law, and one not given to violence. If he were inclined to violence, he would certainly have fought back in 2022 when he was brazenly rigged out,” the statement read.

The statement also referenced the 2022 removal of democratically elected council officials by Governor Adeleke, alleging that rather than resorting to violence, Oyetola led his party members to seek redress through the courts.

“Thankfully, his party won at the Appeal Court last week. As a peace-loving leader, he has since appealed to security agencies to enforce the court’s judgement. How can such a man be accused of a destabilization plot? Anyone making such accusations needs to have their head properly examined,” the statement added.

Oyetola further urged Governor Adeleke to respect the Appeal Court ruling instead of engaging in what he described as “cheap blackmail”, which, he argued, has no place in the law.
