Temilade Openiyi aka Tems has said her songs are always from her experiences.
The 29-year-old, in a recent interview, said the way she writes and does music has always been in the form of a release.
“They’re always from my experiences. The way I write music, the way I do music is, it was always a release,” she said.
Continuing, she reminisced on when she was younger and would be unable to respond when told off, she would resort to music to express herself.
“When I was younger I didn’t really talk to a lot of people, so music was the way I would… If I didn’t tell someone that told me off something, if maybe… People used to tell me off and I wouldn’t say anything, I’d just be like this. Because I wouldn’t know what to say at the moment. I found out that I could sing my emotions. So music has always been like that for me, when I’m full of emotion and I just release that emotion.”
The young Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer, is one of the fastest rising singers on the global scene with collaborations with some of the biggest music stars in the world and performances on big stages in the United States of America, Canada and United Kingdom.
