Ismaila Yusuf Atus, Managing Director of a burgeoning transport company, has called on the Nigerian government to prioritize reforms in the country’s transportation sector in 2025.
In his New Year message, he emphasized the need for a more affordable, safer, and efficient transport system to address the rising challenges faced by Nigerians in the previous year.
Atus noted that in 2024, Nigerians struggled with escalating fuel prices and limited ride availability, making transportation more expensive and difficult. He urged the government to focus on developing a system where citizens can track their rides in real time and feel secure during their travels.
In addition to addressing affordability and safety, Atus called for job creation within the transportation sector. He emphasized that a well-developed ride-hailing industry could offer employment opportunities for the country’s youth, helping to reduce unemployment while supporting economic growth.
XpressRide, the company led by Atus, also advocated for the adoption of fuel-efficient vehicles tailored to Nigerian roads. Atus argued that this approach would not only lower transportation costs but also promote sustainability in the sector, benefiting both the environment and the economy.
Atus invited all Nigerians to join in the mission to improve the transportation system, emphasizing that collective effort and shared ideas would be crucial in shaping a brighter future for the country in 2025.
He said, “As we step into 2025, let’s take a moment to reflect on the challenges we faced last year, particularly in our transportation sector.
“In 2024, many Nigerians felt the pinch of rising costs and inflation, which made transportation more difficult and expensive.
“From higher fuel prices to fewer available rides, these hardships tested our patience and resilience.
“This year, we urge the federal government to focus on making transportation better for everyone.
Imagine an affordable system where you can track your ride in real time and feel safe every time you travel.
It’s important that every Nigerian feels secure and confident when getting into a car, no matter the circumstances.
“Let’s also prioritize creating jobs for our teeming youths and encouraging the use of vehicles that are fuel efficient and also suited for our roads.
“By supporting our own people and resources, we can create a more reliable and affordable ride-hailing system.
This would not only help reduce costs but also empower our nation and strengthen our economy.
“We invite all Nigerians to join us in this mission. Your support and ideas are vital as we work together to improve transportation for everyone.
“Let’s make sure our voices are heard and our needs are met. As we welcome 2025, let’s do so with determination and teamwork! Together, we can build a brighter future for our nation and make transportation a source of pride for every Nigerian.”
