Ayra Starr, the Afrobeats singer, has demanded justice for the female student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) who was murdered.
The student, identified as Christiana Idowu, was reportedly abducted last month in Lagos.
The undergraduate was said to have visited the state to undertake her mandatory industrial training when she went missing.
It was reported that her abductor had demanded a ransom of N3 million but her parents negotiated to pay N350,000.
Idowu, who was aged 21, was however killed in captivity despite her parents paying the sum.
In response to the incident, Ayra Starr used a post on X to call for improved treatment of women and demanded justice for Idowu, urging an end to violence against women. The Lagos police have arrested Ayomide Adeleye, the alleged killer, a 23-year-old, with ongoing investigations. Adeleye was tracked down through bank account details used for ransom payment and was apprehended at his parents’ home in Ikorodu. A smartphone belonging to Idowu and transaction details related to the kidnapping were found with him. He confessed to killing Idowu and burying her in a shallow grave on the property.
