NYSC members assured allowance increment in line with minimum wage adjustment.

The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, YD Ahmed, has assured Corps Members that as soon as Civil Servants start receiving the new minimum wage that was approved by the Federal Government, their monthly allowance would also increase.

Ahmed gave this assurance while addressing Corps Members at the Kebbi State Orientation Camp, Dakingari, and Sokoto State Orientation Camp in Wamakko.

He said their selfless and immense contributions to the socio-economic development of the country cannot be under-estimated.

Ahmed also implored the Corps Members to use the opportunity of the service year to develop themselves and plan for greater heights in future.

Speaking further, he advised the Corps Members to embrace the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme to acquire vocational skills that would make them self-reliant.

“At least learn a skill while in camp and after the Orientation Course, you continue with the post-camp training.

This statement highlights the importance of self-reliance and entrepreneurship for Nigerian graduates, particularly those who have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program. The Director General (DG) of the NYSC encourages ex-corps members to develop skills that will enable them to create jobs and employ others, rather than solely searching for jobs.

The DG also mentions partnerships between the NYSC and various organizations such as the Central Bank of Nigeria, Bank of Industry, Unity Bank, Access Bank, and NNPC Foundation, which offer loans and grants to help corps members start their businesses.

Moreover, the DG reassures corps members that their safety is a priority and that they will not be posted to unsafe areas. The importance of security consciousness is also emphasized.

In the camp reports, the Kebbi and Sokoto State Coordinators highlight the discipline and positive engagement of corps members in camp activities. They also note the emotional intelligence of the camp officials in managing their duties. The reports include statistics on the number of corps members registered, including those who were dislodged from Zamfara State for safety reasons.
