Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, warned President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday to find a lasting solution to the high cost of food items if he wants to maintain peace in his administration.
According to Ayodele, the Tinubu government seems confused about reducing food prices due to sabotage from some individuals who plan to use the issue against the administration. In a statement by his Media Aide, Oluwatosin Osho, Ayodele emphasized that the president’s current short-term measures to lower food prices could lead to more hardship if a long-term solution isn’t implemented soon.
He said: “This government doesn’t know what to do regarding the price of food items, they are confused already. They have sabotaged it already against the government and they will turn it into propaganda. Forces will use it to fight the government.
“I see no way of having peace in Tinubu’s government if the price of food commodities continues to skyrocket, there can never be peace because there will be hardship. The government’s approach to create short-term solutions will not work, it will lead to more hardship. People are only being deceived that the prices of commodities have reduced, it’s a lie.’’
The man of God commended individuals and churches that have been assisting the government in alleviating hardship but noted that the government has more to do about it.
‘’Churches and individuals have been trying their best to help the situation and I commend everyone that has participated so far but none can ever replace the government. The government has a lot to do to make it more effective,’’ he said.
