Former Nigerian lawmaker Senator Ishaku Abbo, who represented the Adamawa North Senatorial District, has denied allegations of involvement in a sexual scandal with a married woman. A video that recently went viral showed a light-skinned man engaging in sexual activity with a woman alleged to be married. Another video, which surfaced on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, featured a woman accusing Abbo of sexually harassing her and using the footage to blackmail her.
Addressing journalists at a press conference on Monday, Abbo strongly denied any connection to the video, claiming that his political rivals were attempting to tarnish his reputation. He questioned how someone could be identified solely from partial images, like legs, without seeing their face or body, and insisted that the allegations were baseless.
Abbo further argued that such blackmail wouldn’t hinder his political ambitions, citing an example of a northern senator who was also implicated in a sex scandal but still won re-election, while his wife was elected to the House of Representatives. He expressed confidence in the support of his constituents, declaring that no amount of blackmail could derail his success.
Abbo, who was sacked from the Senate by an Appeal Court ruling on October 16, 2023, was previously in the news two years ago for allegedly assaulting a breastfeeding mother in a sex toy shop in Abuja.
