Police in Zamfara promote 160 officers

The Commissioner of Police for Zamfara State, Mohammed Dalijan, has officially awarded new ranks to recently promoted officers in the state. This follows the promotion of 160 personnel by the Nigerian Police Force. Specifically, 84 Assistant Superintendents of Police II (ASP II) have been advanced to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP I), and 76 Inspectors have been promoted to ASP II.

Addressing the newly promoted officers at the state police command headquarters on Friday, Commissioner Dalijan highlighted that the promotions are part of a broader effort to boost officer morale and motivation. He noted that the advancement acknowledges their past contributions and aims to inspire greater commitment in tackling ongoing security challenges in the region.

“You have to thank God for the elevation; this promotion is to change the way you do your things, the way you think, the way you plan and operate are all to change to reflect your new rank, to whom much is given, much is expected.

“We are going to give you new roles to play, which will reflect your new rank; you have to pray hard because there are a lot of expectations; we expect better performance and better crime-fighting strategies must be adopted in order for us to know that yes, you are wearing new ranks,” Dalijan said.

The Police Commissioner encouraged the recently promoted officers to intensify their commitment to combating the issue of banditry, emphasizing that their elevated positions entail greater responsibilities.
