Kwara State is set to host the 16th BON Awards at the iconic Sugar Factory Film Studio.

Kwara State’s hosting of the 16th edition of the Best of Nollywood Awards this November marks a significant milestone for the state’s burgeoning film industry. Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq announced the event during a ceremony in Ilorin, highlighting the state’s readiness to play a pivotal role in the Nigerian film industry. The event will be held at the newly established Sugar Factory Film Studio, a cutting-edge facility that represents a significant investment in advancing Nigerian cinematography and positioning it for global recognition.

Governor AbdulRazaq expressed confidence that hosting the Best of Nollywood Awards would further promote the studio within the industry, with at least 500 top filmmakers expected to attend will not only promote the new studio but also contribute to Kwara’s broader strategy of building a strong service and hospitality economy. This aligns with the state’s comprehensive plan to attract quality human traffic, with developments like the Film Factory, visual arts centre, international conference centre, and the Kwara Hotel playing key roles.

He noted that Kwara was chosen to host the event due to its peaceful atmosphere and the administration’s commitment to fostering the film industry.
