Sixteen persons have been burnt to death in an auto crash at Ajue community, along the Ore-Ondo highway, Ondo state
Three people sustained serious injuries, while two others escaped unharmed, in a fiery accident involving a Toyota bus and a truck. The collision, which occurred around 8 p.m., resulted in both vehicles being engulfed in flames, burning the victims beyond recognition. Eyewitnesses reported that one driver’s dangerous overtaking maneuver led to a head-on collision, which then ignited the vehicles. It is suspected that one driver might have had fuel stored in their vehicle, contributing to the fire. Ondo Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ibitoye Samuel, confirmed the incident and noted that the rescue operation concluded around 11 p.m. Preliminary investigations suggest that speeding and improper overtaking caused the accident. Ibitoye urged motorists to practice defensive driving and avoid aggressive behavior on the road.
