The Akwa Ibom State Police Command reported that it raided a criminal hideout in Afaha Offiong community, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area, and apprehended six suspected cultists.
In a statement made available by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Timfon John in Uyo, she said the operatives acted on the directives of the Commissioner of Police, CP Waheed Ayilara following intelligence about the nefarious activities in the area.
She enumerated the names of the suspects to include: Kufre Godwin Okon, Uko Monday Edet, Cyril Micheal, Gabriel Effiong, Joseph Effiong Okon, Udofia Emmanuel Udofia.
The PPRO reported that the suspects, who were allegedly involved in drug dealing, had two bags of substances believed to be Indian hemp, some substances thought to be cocaine, and various concoctions recovered from them. Efforts are underway to capture the remaining fleeing suspects, and those already arrested will be charged in court once the investigation is complete. Commissioner of Police Waheed Ayilara assured the people of Akwa Ibom State of the command’s steadfast commitment to eliminating criminal activity in the state.
He urged them to always report any suspicious movements or suspicious persons to the nearest police Station as this will help the Police cultivate and act on the information towards keeping the State safe and secured,” she said.
