Flooding destroys bridge and disrupt major routes in Taraba.

Flooding has once again made a major bridge in Taraba State impassable. The bridge, located in Mayo-Kam within Bali Local Council, collapsed after a heavy six-hour rainfall last week. It serves as a key connection between several communities, including Gembu in Takum, Baisa, and Gashaka.

At the time of this report, travelers and transporters were stranded and had to find alternative routes. Local authorities and residents have urged the state government to address the issue promptly. They emphasized the negative impact on daily travel and the transportation of goods and appealed to the government and other individuals for assistance in repairing the bridge. Concerns were also raised about the upcoming academic activities, with fears that a delay in fixing the bridge could hinder schoolchildren’s movement.
