Senator Barau Jibrin announced that 23,644 bags of rice, each weighing 25kg, allocated to Kano State will be carefully distributed to those in need. Jibrin, who is also the Chairman of the federal government palliatives committee for Kano State, made this statement during a news interview following a committee meeting.
He clarified that only residents with valid identification—such as a national identity card, driver’s license, voter’s card, or international passport—are eligible to receive the palliatives.
Jibrin explained, “We recently held a meeting regarding the committee set up by the President to distribute aid to Kano residents. We have established a system to ensure the aid reaches those who need it. The President’s directive is to ensure these items are distributed effectively.”
The rice will be allocated across all wards in Kano State’s 44 local government areas. Beneficiaries will be listed and required to provide valid ID to receive a 25kg bag of rice. The list, including signatures, will be forwarded from the local government committee to the state committee.
The distribution committee includes members from various political parties—All Progressives Congress (APC), New Nigerian People’s Party (NPPP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)—and the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), alongside traditional and religious leaders.
