Group knocks Kwankwaso over alleged letter inciting lawmakers against Tinubu

The Northern Patriotic Agenda, NPA, has condemned a call allegedly made by the former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso, asking lawmakers to criticize the President Bola Tinubu-led administration.

According to reports, Kwankwaso had allegedly written a letter to all federal lawmakers elected under the platform of the NNPP, directing them to start criticizing Tinubu and the Federal Government over the Kano Emirate crisis.

The letter titled ‘Need for NNPP Federal Lawmakers to Make Urgent and Concerted Efforts to Immediately End the Siege on Kano State by Agents of the Federal Government’, was signed by one Dr Ajuji Ahmed.

However, a faction of the NNPP led by the Chairman, Dr Agbo Major, had distanced themselves from the purported letter, saying it was not authorized by leadership of the party..

Reacting to the development at a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, the Northern group slammed Kwankwaso for the alleged letter, describing it as “a desperate gambit to salvage his waning political influence and a threat to the stability of the government”.

Convener of the group, Dr Agabi Emmanuel, who addressed journalists at the briefing, said, “We are explicitly and unequivocally declaring to him (Kwankwaso) that he has committed a grave error this time.

“We fervently implore him to retrace his steps, seek the wisdom of sage counsel, and strive to make progressive assertions and decisions that promote the well-being of the greater populace.

“It would be exceedingly prudent for him, and indeed his political career, to foster a spirit of collaboration and unity by working in harmony with the administration of President Tinubu, thereby contributing to the prosperity of our nation and its citizens.

“With only a limited period remaining in his political tenure, it is imperative for him to solidify a legacy that will be remembered fondly by future generations, rather than being relegated to the annals of history as one who prioritized personal political gain over the well-being of the nation, leaving a trail of destruction in his wake.”
