2024 BET Awards: Tems and Tyla achieve major wins [COMPLETE LIST]

Tems was the sole Nigerian winner at this year’s BET Awards, which took place at Los Angeles’s Peacock Theater on Sunday night. Her song “Me & U” triumphed over contenders like Kirk Franklin, Shirley Caesar, and Maverick City to clinch the Dr Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award.

Meanwhile, Nigerian artists Ayra Starr and Asake were unsuccessful in their bids for the prestigious Best International Act, which was won by South Africa’s Tyla. Additionally, Ayra Starr lost out to Tyla in the Best New Artist category and to Victoria Monét in the BET Her category.

Likewise, Seyi Vibez was defeated in the Best New International Act category by South Africa’s Makhadzi.

In addition, Burna Boy, another Nigerian artist, did not secure wins in the categories of Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, which went to Usher, and Best Hip-hop Artist, won by Kendrick Lamar.
