‘Talented Nigerian artists not up to 5’ – Ruger

Singer Michael Adebayo Olayinka, also known as Ruger, stated that Nigeria has fewer than five truly talented musicians at present.

He expressed that many Nigerian artists are simply singing for fun or entertainment purposes.

During a recent interview with Cool FM in Lagos, Ruger emphasized that the number of genuinely talented musicians creating meaningful music is limited to a handful.

However, Ruger didn’t specify the specific Nigerian artists he considers talented, nor did he mention his own position on that list.

“I may not be the most prominent artist in Nigeria, but in terms of talent, I believe I stand among the top. We’re fewer than five,” he stated. “I won’t disclose my exact ranking, but I’m in that elite circle. We’re less than five. Many are just singing for fun, but we, the genuinely talented artists, create music with purpose.”

Ruger expressed surprise upon discovering his substantial fanbase in Israel, noting that he successfully filled a venue with a capacity of 7,000 people in the country.
