The Nigerian national anthem was recently reverted to its earlier version, the one used during the first and second republics.

This change had been made in 1978 by former President Olusegun Obasanjo during his initial term as a military ruler.

During the Troost-Ekong charity match, many public figures were observed having difficulty singing along when the anthem was played, becoming a notable aspect of the event. One amusing moment was Sabinus’s apparent lack of concern as the anthem was being played.
