The actor John Odonwodo, better known as Junior Pope, passed away on Friday, and the town of Uwala Abaka, Ukehe, Igboetiti Local Government Area, Enugu State, was engulfed in sadness and loss.
The actor’s body was moved to a private location for internment at approximately 1:30 pm, after the funeral rites began at 10:00 am with a commendation mass at St. Peter’s Catholic Parish, Ukehe, and a lying-in-state at his father’s compound, where friends, family, and coworkers got their last look at the late actor.
Colleagues and fans flocked to the actor’s funeral to offer their final respects, creating a somber mood.
As the last funeral procession got underway, Jennifer Awele, the late actor’s wife, was seen crying uncontrollably and couldn’t stop.
On April 10, the 43-year-old actor and four other individuals perished in the Anam River, Anambra State, after their boat overturned while they were returning from a filming location.
Veteran actress Rita Edochie expressed her heartbreak at the funeral ceremony, saying that she was devastated to learn of Junior Pope’s passing.
