A video of how members of the Nigeria Police Force, also known as Portable, handled well-known artist Habeeb Okikiola, has surfaced online.
The artist was being physically assaulted by police officers in a video that went viral, as he tried to escape.
The Zazzu crooner was arrested on Tuesday by members of the Lagos State Police Command for not making good on the debt he accrued when he bought a Mercedes G-Wagon from a state auto dealer.
Benjamin Hundeyin, a spokesman for the Command, confirmed Portable’s arrest and stated that the musician had only paid N13 million of the N27 million car’s total cost and had refused to pay the remaining N14 million.
He clarified that the car dealer typically claimed that the vehicle was defective whenever he approached him to settle the outstanding amount.
“Portable has been arrested,” stated Hundeyin. He paid N13m of the N27m he paid for the G-Wagon, refusing to pay the remaining N27m, citing the car’s defects. He was taken into custody today.
